Kate's Strong focus on our Working Families:

Education:

Kate believes that all children in Attleboro, and across the Commonwealth, should have access to a high quality public education. We must ensure that our schools have the funding they need to offer a well-rounded curriculum, keep class sizes down, and attract and retain excellent teachers. Kate will work to advance education reform efforts to expand access to early childhood education, provide full-day kindergarten, increase investment in math and science, and expand access to public higher education.

"As your state representative, I plan to work hard to bring the best learning environment possible to our most precious resource, our children. As you know, our high school is in dire need of replacement, or at the very least, complete refurbishment. I will work tirelessly as your representative on Beacon Hill to secure funding to that end."

Public Safety:
Kate feels strongly about the need to provide a safe city for our residents to work and live in.

"As the wife of a firefighter, I have come to respect the job that our police officers and firefighters do and believe that more can be done at the state level to provide our public safety professionals with adequate tools and funding to keep us safe as well as those who protect us."

Healthcare
Kate is committed to making high quality, affordable healthcare available to all residents in Attleboro and across Massachusetts. Kate will also pursue efforts with consumers, businesses, healthcare providers, local government, and state government to better manage and control healthcare costs.

Economic Growth and Job Creation
Kate will pursue targeted efforts to encourage research and innovation in growth industries, such as technology and life sciences, that lead to improved global competitiveness and new job creation in Massachusetts. She will also work to strengthen education, training, and workforce development.

Tax Policy
Kate supports efforts to close corporate tax loopholes that cost us hundreds of millions of dollars each year in lost tax revenues. These tax loopholes drain funds from our cities and towns, schools, healthcare programs, public safety and other important public needs. They also result in a higher tax burden on families and residential property owners.

Environment
Kate will advocate for active and concerted efforts to address environmental issues, including global warming, clean air, and clean water. Kate also supports efforts to develop clean and renewable energy sources that reduce global warming, reduce our reliance on foreign oil, and drive innovation and economic growth in Massachusetts.

On Saturday May 3rd "Team Kate" participated in the Ten Mile River Greenway Cleanup.

"I want to be sure that we protect the Ten Mile River. We don't want to over develop in marginal areas."

Support for Cities and Towns
Kate believes that our state government must do everything in its power to address the fiscal crisis facing Attleboro, and many other towns and cities across Massachusetts. She will work to significantly increase local aid while also finding new ways for our communities to raise revenue, better manage their expenses, and reduce their reliance on residential property taxes.

Choice
Kate supports a woman's right to choose and will oppose any effort to restrict access to reproductive health services. Kate supports efforts to expand access to reproductive health services to keep women safe and protect these important rights.

Equal Marriage Rights
Kate supports same sex marriage rights and will oppose any effort to write discrimination into the Massachusetts State Constitution. Kate will work to ensure that our state government protects and respects all families in Attleboro.
